With renewable energy at the
forefront of President Obama's January 21 inaugural address, America's Advanced
Biofuel, biodiesel, is poised to continue to be a key player in meeting our
nation's energy goals.
During his speech, the President declared, "The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult. But America cannot resist this transition; we must lead it. We cannot cede to other nations the technology that will power new jobs and new industries - we must claim its promise. That is how we will maintain our economic vitality and our national treasure - our forests and waterways; our croplands and snowcapped peaks. That is how we will preserve our planet, commanded to our care by God. That's what will lend meaning to the creed our fathers once declared."
The U.S. biodiesel industry stands ready to help advance the President's renewable energy vision. The industry produced nearly 1.1 billion gallons of advanced biofuels in 2012. Made from an increasingly diverse mix of resources such as recycled cooking oil, soybean oil and animal fats, biodiesel is the first and only EPA-designated advanced biofuel that's produced on a commercial scale across the U.S.
The industry has
plants in nearly every state in the country and supports more than 64,000 jobs
nationwide.During his speech, the President declared, "The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult. But America cannot resist this transition; we must lead it.
